This past month has been a busy one at Chapel Hill`s Kitchen Mastering! Chief Mastering Engineer Brent Lambert and 2nd Aaron Oliver have been cranking out 1630's. We have had some amazing records come through our doors. Some highlights were: Dave Matthews singing on Charlottesville's Thompson D'earth with drummer extraordinaire Carter Beaufort - Jim Scott's (Tom Petty, Cracker, Wilco) mixes of EMI artist Dayna Manning - Claire Holley's dream new record for Yep Rock produced, engineered and mixed by hot local engineer John Plymale, (her record is the first to come out of the newly expanded Overdub Lane in Durham and that live room really breathes!) - Chris Stamey's wonderful production on Thad Cockrell's new record - Noah Evens' (Jars of Clay, King Crimson, Scott Sawyer) mixes of former Chapel Hill trad-jazz pianist (and brother) Gabe Evens - Wes Lachot's mixes of Cyril Lance's great new blues recording featuring members of the Allman Brothers and Government Mule - Trailer Bride's new Bloodshot release "High Seas"- Chris Stamey and Tim Harper's fine mixes of Hazeldine's new Bloodshot release - John Custer's (Dag, COC, Chris Whitley) smashing production of Brown's new radio single, "Jennifer" John Plymale's remixes of Atlantic Records Athenaeum (John remixed what Jack Joseph Puig - Hole, Jellyfish, Tonic - couldn`t quite nail down!), John Morand's (Joan Osborne, Hanson, Cracker, Sparklehorse) awesome production and mixes of Richmond songwriter Susan Greenbaum - another absolutely gorgeous ambient/latin influenced record by Richmond songwriter/guitarist Patrick Phelan that features the beautiful live room at Sound of Music and featuring members of Bio Ritmo - another great John Morand project by Pogues-like Virginia artists Carbon Leaf - local heavy rockers PKM remaster of their original "Rockerotica" album (now titled "Recycle"), Richard Rendleman's(MMC Records) compilation of original works featuring the Polish National Symphony, Seattle Symphony, and the Czechoslovakian Republic Philharmonic, Johnny Irion and Hobart Willis's new releases - Jack Russell's excellent mixes of local Gospel frontman Roland Perry - Greensboro's rappers Bakwoodz, Mr. Rozzi, and Ill Source - and last but not least Mitch Easter (REM, Pavement, Let's Active) and John Heams mixes of local blues band Indoor Storm. There is some great stuff on the books for April and May, so we'll keep you posted.
