Youssou N'Dour

We've just completed mastering a series of Youssou N'Dour remixes for the IntraHealth OPEN project. which will be featured on Rhapsody, iTunes and the Amazon music marketplace.

Youssou N'Dour is one of the most celebrated and respected African musicians of our time (perhaps one of the most famous musicians in the world).  The Senegalese singer, songwriter and percussionist incorporates a kaleidoscope of styles and influences in his music that reflects the culture across the vast African continent. He has also been involved in many of the continent's social and political issues for the past 30 years, from Amnesty International and UNICEF to his own Project Joko.

Recently, Youssou has become involved with IntraHealth, an organization that utilizes open source technology to build and improve public health systems in Africa.  His song, "Wake Up (It's Africa Calling)," from his acclaimed 2007 release, "Rokku Mi Rokka,"  was remixed by a number of artists such as NAS, Duncan Sheik, Afrissippi, David Gross, Toubob Krew and more.

It was exciting to work with a number of artists with different approaches on the same material.

Check out the IntraHealth website for more information on this project and the OPEN mission.
